Applications Note
The Arrayit Colorimetric Protein Microarray Platform empowers users to perform a variety of miniaturized and multiplexed protein microarray assays including microarray-based enzyme-linked immunosorptive assay (ELISA) tests. Miniaturizing and multiplexing ELISA-based assays reduces cost and increases the accuracy of the assays. When multiple analytes are processed in a microarray format, each analyte on the surface of the microarray is subjected to identical reaction and processing conditions.  This reduces variability when multiple samples are analyzed. Additionally, the microarray format uses much lower reaction volumes, which increases the concentration of capture agent on the surface and speeds binding reactions with protein molecules in solution. Greater protein concentrations mean greater detectivity and higher sensitivity. The microarray format offers greater affordability by using 10,000 fold less sample.  The Arrayit microarray format can replace many if not all traditional ELISA-based microplate and tube assays. This powerful set of tools is capable of performing a multitude of other types of assays including:

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Sub-optimal printing quality. Adjust sample volume and wash/dry parameters
  • Spots too closely spaced or too far apart in scanned images. Adjust spot spacing parameter in software.
  • Uneven background on SuperNitro Microarray Substrates. Increase agitation speed, number of buffer changes and wash times.
  • Scanned signals too strong or too weak. Adjust scanner gain settings.
  • Scanned spots appear grainy. Increase scanning resolution.
