Discover Chips™
Discover Chips™ are oligonucleotide (oligo) microarrays that contain 380 Human gene sequences selected from 30 major functional groups for broad coverage of physiological and transcriptional information. The 70-mer oligos were designed using Telechem’s Oligo Design Directive. The highly optimized and melting temperature-matched 70-mers were synthesized and purified by BioSearch Technologies, Inc and printed in duplicate on the glass substrate slide. Four ArrayControls are included with the 380 human gene sequences. The control oligos were designed for uniqueness computationally, by running the sequences against the public sequence databases to avoid cross-hybridization with probes prepared from human cells. Specific mRNAs complementary to the negative control sequences are available from Ambion, Inc. if users wish to “spike in” the control mRNAs during the fluorescent labeling reaction. The spiking experiment converts the negative control spots into positive controls, and allows absolute quantitation to be derived from the signal intensities at these locations.
